He holds an MSc in Crowd Safety and Risk Analysis from Manchester Metropolitan University, which provided him with an advanced understanding of crowd behaviour, risk assessment, and crowd management strategies.

Bert's commitment to continuous learning is evident in the various certifications and courses he has completed to expand his expertise. He is a specialist in crowd simulation and modelling, fire evacuation design, and emergency planning. He is also a Corporate Member of the Global Crowd Management Alliance and a Specialist Member of the International Institute of Risk & Safety Management.

Bert has been commissioned to numerous high-profile projects across the globe, including project-based crowd safety studies for the General Entertainment Authority (SA), Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), Jeddah Season (SA), City of Antwerp (BE), Rocher Mistral (FR), Incontrol Simulation (NL), and many more. During Covid Bert provided crowd safety expertise to the Belgian Federal Government's Economic Risk Management Group regarding the COVID-Exit strategy for the Belgian events industry.
